Cheri's Choice and a Rebuke

Okay, I realize that nobody really wants to do family movie night with me (except maybe Amanda), but I am not going to quit, so you can all just cope. Got it. Good.

So, since it's already the end of the month and SOME people in this family might be in the middle of the ocean, Cheri and Ben's picks will hang out for another month. Watch Ben's any time during May and Watch Cheri's on Scott's birthday.

Here tis:

I've seen this play a few times and really loved it. I am excited to watch the movie. Thanks, Cheri!

Does the new one count? I already have that one. Also Scott's Birthday is also the day of Ben's Baptism, so just thought that I would remind everyone about that.

Hey Amanda,

This is the new one. It was released in 2004- that is the most recent movie done. Hope that helps.

If anyone wants to borrow the movie I have it, so dont worry about going out and renting it.
I love this movie, I love the music and the story line. I dont know what it about the Phantom, he is not a nice person but I felt sorry for him, I did not like how he played on Christine's emotions about her father but me being the hopeless romantic that I'm was hoping that he would get his beloved Christine. I really did not like Christine's boyfriend, yes he did his best to save her but he just striked me as a rich whinny brat that would not take no for an answer, but I guess neither would the phantom. Like I said I dont know what it is but I just love the music. I have to say that my favorite songs in the play are All I Ask of you, Music of the night, and wishing you were somehow hear again. As for Eric I still dont know, of course he is a guy and well you guys can guess. Thanks for a good pic Cheri.

I loved this movie, and the music. I felt sorry for the Phantom and wanted him to get Christine, but at the same time I did not like him because he was a little evil. I didn't like the fact that he killed to get his point across, and I did not like that he acted like he had complelte control over Christine, but she asked for it a little bit. As for Raul, I could not stand him, he striked me as a rich whinny brat, but over all I loved this movie. Thanks for a great pic Cheri. I look forward to Larry's pic.

Okay, I'm posting this very late, but here it is. I rented this movie from netflix last month but has to send it back because it wouldn't play. After that, I held on to the new copy forever waiting for Nate to watch it with me. He was never home. So, I finally watched it alone, on my tenth anniversary, while Nate worked a 12-hour graveyard. *sigh*

The movie was great, though. I was very surprised how closely it followed the play. After seeing it in New York, I bought the soundtrack and listened to it over and over during my Dixie years. I have every line memorized. They left out a few and added a few, but not nearly as much as you would expect for a movie version of a play. This made it all the more enjoyable for me. Then, at the end, I saw that it was directed by Webber, himself. Very cool.

It's been almost a week since I watched it and I am still singing the songs. I haven't had the opportunity to hear that music for a very long time. It was very nostalgic for me. It is beautiful, majestic and almost miraculous in the talents of the people who put it together. I couldn't have enjoyed any selection more. Someday, when I'm rich and famous, we'll all go to the theater for my month...

I really love this movie and the music. This is a true classic and things that make a classic are getting much more rare. This is a true love story where the wrong guy is getting the beautiful girl and the right guy goes about it in all the wrong ways. I really do think that must be a guy thing! But you all know that I love Beauty and the Beast, and this movie is showing what happens when the outside is the only thing people can see. It is so tragic and moving. Sorry for the very late post. I have been watching the movies.
