Most of you know that mom chose "Taking Chance" as her December choice. She wants all of us to know that she made this choice because it takes her back to the way she felt as a child about her country. She wants to show us how she was raised to view the greatest nation on Earth. But, apparently the audacity of not selecting a Christmas movie at Christmas time has been keeping her up at night. Since mom has had a tough couple of months, and since she has just received a $14,000 rehab bill, we are all going to take pity on her. On December 14th (or before), we will be watching "Taking Chance."

On December 21st, we will be watching White Christmas.

We all have very busy Decembers, so do your best to watch these movies when you can.

Well, I am excited to see that we get to watch a Christmas movie together! It has been a long time since I have seen White Christmas, but it is a classic and I look forward to it!

Eric and I watched Taking Chance tongight and even though I shed a few tears I really enjoyed it. It made me realize that I wish for anyone going into war was immortal, just so families wouldn't have to deal with the sadness, but my brilliant husband pointed out to me, that if we were all immortal what would be the point of war, I said thats a good thing. However, we are not immortal and we do have to deal with the sadness, but I really had great respect for this man who made this long journey to take Chance home, and I really liked how he made his family feel better by telling them about all the people on his journey, and I know that we dont believe in the cross, but I thought that was a great thing to have given it to Chance's family, you could just tell that it made his family feel better. The man had a great spirit to him and I have extreme respect for what he did. In the end of the movie he said "I didn't know Chance Phelps before he died, but today I miss him". That qoute really touced my heart, He never knew this kid but felt as if he had. We need more people like him.
Taking Chance was picked because of all of the upsetting things that are going on with our country right now. this movie showed a respect for all of those who fought to make this country great. This is the type of respect I was raised with and I would like my Grandchildren to know the same great country that I knew as a child. A country where those who defend this Country are treated as heros, where our President does not apolize for the things they do in defense of this country. The way regular people showed respect for the fallen soldier and it was shown across the country they travled to take Chance home. That is the attitude we need to regain so we can take pride in our county and defend it even at a great and ultimate price.
Weston, you can do whatever you want to. Make sure to watch White Christmas and have a hankie close at hand. I am sure you will have tears appearing in your eyes.
I just finished watching white Christmas and it was as good as it was when I was a little girl. Some would call it Cheezy, but I just just know that it makes me feel good and I always want to feel good at Christmas time. Make sure to read the emails that I sent to all of you and I am sure going to love seeing all of you on Christmas
eve between five and five thirty. I hope that you all enjoyed the movies and understan why I selected them. One last note, White Christmas was made the year I was born.
Mom,
I loved both movies. White Christmas was a fun musical but brought back the true spirit through serving others. I was very impressed with one man's desire to go to extremes to help a former officer. It is the kind of respect we all need to feel for those who have taught us so much and done much for us.
In Taking Chance, I was very impressed with the respect every day citizens showed the fallen marine. I believe it reminds us of the pride and dignity we all need to have for our country. I love America and go increasingly frustrated with those who tell us we are wrong to feel pride in our country. The values our founding fathers instilled still exist in the hearts of many Americans and this film brought that back to me; Especially after watching grandpa honored for his service and feeling the pride that my grandpa loved this country enough to risk his life for it.
Thank you for two great picks. I really enjoyed them.
Single tear.
Okay, that last post was the exclusive property of Nate. He posted it his very own self. My favorite part of the movie was because I watched it with baby Q sitting on my lap. Every time he saw the soldiers saluting Chase, he saluted back. He was very serious about the whole thing.
I liked Taking Chance. I had tears in eyes many times. so I feel really dumb as I was watching it I kept trying to figure out the title, and it took me till after it was over and I said the name to Scott when it finale clicked. Stephanie kept trying to salute too it was cute.
